Scripture of the Week of the Ascension

 Scripture of the Week

From my professor:

"May your unfailing love be my comfort, according to your promise to your servant." - Psalm 119:76

Here is a verse of comfort to get you started for your week!

Interestingly, last Sunday’s Gospel (extraordinary rite) was from John 18, and in it, Jesus said to the Apostles, “Ask, and you shall receive that your joy may be full.” Then, last Thursday was Ascension Thursday and the Sermon we heard touched back on joy – and the fact that we cannot possibly fill our hearts with joy based on worldly pleasures. That which might be pleasurable, even joyful, will not be complete – we will only be able to receive complete and perfect joy in Heaven – which is where Jesus ascended to, and we celebrated last Thursday.

In short, His unfailing love is indeed our comfort and according to His promise that He went forth to prepare a place for us.
